Aden Bowman Bears Storm Back to Win Girls Consolation Final

Jules Verne Albatros v. Aden Bowman Bears

(Girls Consolation Final — 2025 No Regrets Tournament)

December 13, 2025

On the final day of the 2025 No Regrets Tournament, we’re here in Collingwood’s gym for the consolation final of the girls bracket. A couple of threes from both teams kick things off, and we’re off to the races. It’s Saturday in West Vancouver, but #9 for the Bears has double-checked — the bank is still open as she knocks down a deep, banked-in three.

Back and forth early on, but #6 for Jules Verne, Jessica Williams, looks intent on taking control, knocking down her second three of the game to bring the score back to an 8–8 tie. She keeps rolling — a smooth spin move in the lane, finishing with the finger roll and drawing the and-1. #9 for the Bears, Zehtab-Jadid, answers right back, hitting another three, this time from the corner to restore the Bears' lead. Great ball movement by Aden Bowman leads to a mid-post jumper from #13, Milne, to extend the edge.

End of first quarter: Bears 17 – Albatros 15.

The Albatross come out with extra pace to start the second, again led by #6 Williams who continues piling up points — a crafty left-handed finish inside, followed by yet another triple to give Jules Verne a four-point lead. Then, with a pure green light, she hits another three. She is absolutely everywhere offensively.

A moment of concern follows: after a scramble for a loose ball near the rim, #9 for the Bears, Zehtab-Jadid, goes down and looks shaken up. She’s been a leader for her team all tournament long, so seeing her walk off under her own strength to get checked by the trainers is a huge relief.

Jules Verne has operated out of a 2–3 zone for most of the half, and while the Bears have found occasional openings, they haven’t fully settled into attacking the seams consistently. The Albatross put together an impressive second quarter — with #6 Williams doing the majority of the damage.

Good news for Bowman: #9 Zehtab-Jadid returns to the court before halftime to test out that knee.

Halftime score: Albatros 34 – Bears 25.

Halftime Fact #1:The Bears went for an 8 km hike yesterday — making the most of their Vancouver trip while escaping the -40°C temperatures back home in Saskatoon.

Halftime Fact #2: The out-of-town Bears are a studious group — with big exams coming up back in Saskatoon, they’ve been squeezing in study sessions between games, hikes, and their Vancouver adventures. Nothing like a little basketball–biology–beach day balance.

Both teams come out of halftime with solid pace, building on the energy from the first two quarters. With three minutes to go in the third, the Albatros maintain an eight-point lead, 44–36. #9 for the Bears makes a timely drive and finishes with a right-handed floater to bring Bowman back within single digits heading into the final frame.

End of third quarter: Albatros 50 – Bears 41.

These girls are giving everything they have in the chase for third place in the 2025 No Regrets Tournament. After Jules Verne built that early lead in the first half, the teams have been trading blows ever since — the margin hovering around ten most of the way.

The competitiveness is on full display. The energy in the gym keeps rising, and the Bears are hoping for one final push in the last seven minutes to get this back within striking distance. And just like that — back-to-back big threes pull them within two, 55–53. #9 Zehtab-Jadid steps to the line, sinks both free throws, and ties the game with four minutes left.

Bowman switches into a box-and-one defensive look, face-guarding the hot hand — and it pays off. Stops turn into runouts, and the Bears start to feed off the momentum.

From down double digits to leading late, the Bears complete the comeback and close out a gritty, emotional finish to take home the consolation final in this year’s tournament.

Final Score: Bears 63 – Albatross 58.

No Regrets.
